WHEN TO ARRIVE AND WHAT TO BRING:
To help make sure everything goes smoothly, please arrive approx. 10-15 mins ahead of your lesson start time so your swimmer can get changed and ready and do the warm-up activity.
On arrival, before entering the changing room please put on some blue shoe covers or remove your outdoor shoes to assist us in keeping our facility clean.
Prams and car seats can be placed in our buggy park in the entrance to the changing rooms.
Here’s a quick checklist of what to bring along:
✅ Swimwear (and goggles if required)
✅ A towel or robe to dry off
✅ Shampoo or shower gel
✅ We will provide your swimmer with a swim hat and arm discs / flotation devices where needed, so you do not need to bring these
Please do not leave your belongings in the cubicles during lessons and use the storage area next to the vanity units.
BABY SWIMMERS:
If you’re on a baby lesson (Bond, Learn, Grow 0-3 years) in addition to the above, you will need both a disposable swim nappy and a neoprene swim nappy for baby in line with our ‘double wrap’ policy, and swimwear for yourself as you will join baby in the pool. (This is just for babies aged 0-3, not for Swim1-8 lessons for 3-11 year olds.)
Children over 3 and above who are not yet toilet trained will also need to wear a swim nappy for their lesson.
IMPORTANCE OF SWIM HATS:
As mentioned above we provide swim hats for our swimmers age 3 upwards. We operate a colour-coded swim hat system, which plays a significant role in supporting your child’s progress and ensuring a clean, safe environment for everyone.
Each coloured hat represents a specific swimming ability level, allowing our teaching team to:
- Quickly identify your child’s stage and provide tailored support
- Ensure swimmers are always in the right group for their ability with the correct floatation aids where required
We kindly ask that your child always wears their correct coloured hat to each lesson. Hats are provided as part of your membership when you first join and child moves up a level. (If you lose your hat, replacements can be purchased for a small fee.)
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST FEW LESSONS:
Our venue has a reception which leads to the changing rooms and showers and a viewing gallery, and of course the pool. Our helpful team are here to ensure your swimming journey with us gets off to a great start so they’ll be on hand to help with whatever you need.
Our expert teachers will assess your child over their first few lessons to ensure they’re in the right ability group and if not, we’ll work with you to find the right slot.
We know that attending a new pool can potentially be daunting for little ones, especially those who are totally new to swimming or have displayed hesitation before, but our friendly team are here to support and guide your swimmers through this. We’ve taught hundreds of thousands of children to swim across the UK, so you’re in safe hands.
Every child develops differently in the water, so don’t worry if children in your child’s class progress and move up more quickly than yours. Learning to swim is a journey that takes several years to complete and varies for each child.
Please ensure you and your swimmers abide by our Swim! Rules, you’ll see them on a large green circular poster in the changing rooms, next to the warm-up area.
And one last thing ……… Have fun 😊 we want your child’s lesson with us to be the best half hour of their week
ANY QUESTIONS?

We look forward to meeting you and your little swimmers over the coming week or so 😊
