how to get the most out of your child’s swimming lessons

3 mins read

We’re sure you’re aware that when you sign up with swim! you get top-quality, structured swimming classes led by experienced, passionate teachers in one of our comfortable, family-friendly purpose-built swim! centres, but how can you make sure that your child is getting the most out of their lessons to give them the best experience on their swim! journey?

Here are our top tips for making the most of your child’s swim! sessions:

Arrive at lessons prepared

We understand that life with kids can be hectic, and it can sometimes be a mad rush getting them out of the house, but to make sure your child is getting the most out of classes, be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes before their lesson starts. Having those extra few minutes to relax and get prepared for your session will help make the whole experience more enjoyable.

Please ensure your child comes with the swimming hat specific to their group level as this is for the safety of our lifeguards as well as the cleanliness of our pools.

Our clean, modern, and warm changing rooms designed specifically for children also include lockers, pram parks, hairdryers and baby changing facilities.

Keep up to date with your child’s progress

Our dedicated programme focuses on developing great technique, water confidence, and safety skills with lots of fun and games. And, thanks to our small class sizes of just 6, swimmers won’t be fighting for attention as they get plenty of direct learning time with our teachers. This means we will always be able to provide clear and helpful feedback on the progress of your child throughout their swim! journey.

Be sure to keep an eye on your child’s ongoing swimming development through our online tracker, which is super easy to access through your account. Teachers will keep the tracker updated on a regular basis updated to ensure the progress reflects your child’s ability against the group criteria. Please let us know if you require any specific teacher feedback and we can arrange for you to speak with the teacher about your child and their progress in more detail.

Make use of your online account

As well as keeping an eye on your child’s progress, your online account makes managing your child’s lessons super easy! Our handy online booking system is an ideal way to keep track of class bookings and look after your direct debit payments with no need to re-book every few weeks!

Has your child got a sibling you’d also like to sign up? Conveniently, you can add a second child to your account by just logging into your account and under ‘swimmers’ and clicking the option to ‘add swimmer’.

Not going to be at your next lesson? You can take care of that here too! Just head to profile > lessons and scroll to upcoming lessons. There is an option to say ‘I can’t attend’ which your swim! teacher will see on their registers.

Support your child and celebrate their achievements!

Celebrate your child’s achievements with us – our reward scheme constantly recognises your child’s effort progress, from our weekly rewards celebrating effort and good values to certificates and badges as your child moves onto the next group! Be sure to show your own appreciation for their hard work with compliments.

Be sure to join us in the comfortable viewing lounge, with refreshments and activities for the whole family, to show your child that you’re supporting them and watching their amazing skill development. Why not invite other family members along too, to really give your little one a chance to show off their newfound water confidence?
